BRIEF: A store design concept, complete fabrication, and installation for the Rocket Fizz candy store flagship at AREA15, an immersive entertainment and events complex. The concept to execution timeline had a turnaround time of less than 6 months during the COVID-19 pandemic, when supply shortages were part of life and safety protocols were changing by the day.
SOLUTION: By leaning into the Rocket Fizz’s utilitarian “general store” aesthetic, the concept combines the functionalism and nostalgia of 1970s-era NASA design with a heavy dose of childlike wonder. The layout features a launch pad-inspired floor plan in pastel Smartees colors, cargo container candy bins and an interactive Apollo rocket console. The rocket console moves like it was wiggling through the sky and emits a colorful light show based on the user’s commands via a joystick and button combination. Sweet.
